PIECE OF CHRISTCHURCH
The Canterbury Earthquakes have inspired me to create a series of artwork on earthquake rubble that my friends and I collected off Canterbury old building that collapse, damage or demolish during/after 2011 earthquake. I had set a number of 50 pieces for this series and I called the series “Piece of Christchurch”.
It isn’t an easy task for the journey of rubble collection, as most building waiting for EQC and/or insurance company’s instruction and/or try to save as much pieces as possible to rebuild. We have been using every contact we have, to gendering pieces that we can all over Canterbury, pieces that no longer useful for rebuild or to be dump. I am very please and thankful for everyone’s help and support in this series or work.
Other then helping to collect rubble, I am grateful for the help of selling, to get me funding and encouragement to continue to finish the series. As everyone know picture frame can be very expansive. There for in the very beginning of the series the work frame in plastic frame, and slowly move from plastic frame to wooden frame.
